本日は「ぐずぐずしてはいられない」の巻～～

お友達との会話です。
こんなことが起こった日にゃぁ、わたしは・・・

B: myself

A: I did it again....

B: What?

A: I locked my two-month-old daughter in to the car.

B: How on earth did it happen?

A: She had a temperature, and I was going to take her
　　to the hospital.　When I was strapping her in to
　　the child seat, I put my bag and key on to
　　the driver's seat because I needed both hands.
　　It took only a few minutes to strap her in.
　　Then, after closing the back door, I tried to open
　　the front door, but I couldn't.

B: Really? How horrible! But you said your bag was inside,
　　which meant your mobile phone was out of reach....

A: Yes, I almost panicked, but there was no time to lose.
　　It was a warm sunny day, she's only two months old,
　　and to make matters worse she had a temperature....
　　I asked somebody nearby to let me use his mobile
　　phone....

B: 何を？

A: ２ヶ月の娘を車に閉じ込めてもてん。

B: へっなんでそんなことなったん？

A: 熱があったから、病院に連れて行こうとしててさぁ、
　 チャイルドシートに乗せるのに両手いるから、かばんとかキーを運転席に
　 置いてんやんかぁ。ほんの数分でシートに寝かせてんけど、その後、
　 後ろのドアを閉めてから、前のドアを開けようと思ったら、
　 開けへんかってさぁ。

B: まじでぇ？　最悪！　でも、かばんが中ってことは、携帯（電話）もない
　　ってことやんなぁ。

A: そうやん。もうほとんどパニック状態、でもとにかく急がなって思って。
　 晴れの日でさぁ、たった２ヶ月の乳児やし、おまけに熱があった
　 からさぁ・・・近くにいる人つかまえて、「携帯貸して下さい」って
　 頼んだよ・・・

　「～度の熱がある」なら have a temperature of ～ degrees　
　となります。
　
　 You have a slight temperature, but nothing to
　　worry about.
　 （少し熱がありますが、心配はいりませんよ）

■　out of reach 手の届かないところに

　one's reach　で手や声・力のの届く範囲（距離）を表します。
　ここでは、out of reach なので、その範囲外、ということになります。

　　Put the medicine out of children's reach.
　　（その薬を子どもたちの手の届かないところに置いておいてください）

　 She thought university was out of her reach.
　 （彼女は、大学進学は自分にはムリだと思った）

　 The price has gone out of reach.
　 （その値段は手が届かなくなってしまった）

　 と言うこともできます。
