「結婚する～」の巻。

先日、電車に乗っていたら、隣の女の子達が
こんな会話をしておりました。

A: I've heard Tomomi is going to tie the knot.

B: Wow, Tomomi....I didn't know that.
　　What kind of person is she going to get married to?

A: I don't know much about it, but her marrige partner
　　works at the same company.

B: Really? Tomomi has found her life partner in-house,
　　hasn't she?

A: Yeah. I wish there was in-house romance in my
　　company.

B: Don't worry, we're in the same boat!

A: トモミが結婚するんやってぇ～

B: へぇ～トモミがぁ。知らんかったわ。
　 どんな人と結婚すんの？

A: よう知らんけど、相手は同じ会社の人やってぇ。

B: ほんまに～？　トモミは伴侶を社内で見つけたってわけか。

A: そやなぁ。うちの会社にもそういう出会いがあればなぁ・・・

■　tie the knot　　結婚する、挙式する

　　　　knot は「（綱・ひも・リボンなどの）結び目、結び」という意味です。
　　　　tie a knot　だと「結び目を作る」ですが、
　　　　a → the になると「結婚する」になります。
　　　　knot には「（とくに夫婦の）きずな」という意味もあります。

　　be married to　になると「結婚している」状態を表します。

　　marry「結婚する」の動詞もありますが、日常会話では
　　get married to　の方が多く使われます。

　　　　　　　　　　　　 　　　同じ問題に直面して

　　海上で船に乗っているリスクは、乗客みんな同じである、というところから
　　きています。難しい状況などに対して使います。
